It is a multifunctional venue‭, ‬mainly used for volleyball‭, ‬basketball and gymnastics‭.  ‬With a 44‭ ‬x 23‭ ‬x 8.50‭ ‬m‭. ‬dimension‭, ‬its games area can host other disciplines too‭; ‬it has a capacity of 225‭ ‬viewers to be extended to 500‭, ‬and it has a gym‭, ‬an external‭ ‬games area and a refreshment area‭.‬

Inaugurated in 2004, the Sports Arena is located in the eastern quadrant of the city, where Valentino Mazzola Stadium used to be. The stadium too was named after the Grande Torino football team champion who died tragically in 1949. It is a multi-purpose venue, mostly used for volleyball and basketball; it hosts internal games of local men’s volleyball teams and women’s basketball teams. Given its 3,000-viewer capacity, the venue can also host concerts, shows and other sports events.

The goal set for Ricciardi Gym is ambitious‭: ‬the renovation of an area where an unfinished building is located‭, ‬as well as the renewal of the existing gym‭. ‬Both the building and the old gym will be demolished to make room for a new building embedding the new Ricciardi gym‭. ‬The venue will provide supporting services to sports‭, ‬as well as complementary services for activities aiming‭ ‬at improving community life‭, ‬including entertainment and sports‭ (‬including skating‭). ‬The new Ricciardi Gym will be part of the Salinella Sports Campus‭.‬

This Sports Arena was inaugurated in 1998‭, ‬thanks to the commitment of Federazione dei Metalmeccanici Fiom-CGIL‭ (‬a local Trade Union‭). ‬It mostly hosts volleyball‭, ‬basketball and five-a-side football‭. ‬The field has a dimension of 40‭ ‬x 23‭ ‬x 10‭ ‬m‭. ‬and a capacity of 1,200‭ ‬viewers‭.‬

Located close to the city centre‭, ‬the tennis club hosts competitions at both regional and national level‭. ‬It avails of 5‭ ‬tennis‭ ‬courts‭ (‬three red-clay courts and two Mateco-covered courts‭) ‬approved by Italian Tennis Federation‭, ‬as well as a weights room‭. ‬Temporary grandstands are rented out for extra seat capacity‭.‬

Taranto New Nautical Centre will be key to the urban redevelopment strategies for the Ionian capital.  It will host the local Nautical Club, and as such it will be a unique structure in Southern Italy: a new reference venue for water sports (sailing, rowing, etc.), at international as well as Olympic level. The starting area, the equipment for the race, platforms, nautical equipment and a temporary grandstand with a 1,000-seat capacity will be installed.

3×3‭ ‬basketball games will be hosted in the Peripato Gardens‭, ‬a green area in Taranto city centre‭. ‬The games area and temporary grandstands with an 800-seat capacity‭, ‬four training areas and a lounge area for the athletes will be available in the gardens‭.‬

The new Sports Hall in Fasano will be completed by 2023, and it will mainly host internal competitions of local handball teams playing in the Italian Championship of the A1 League. It will be equipped with all services for both athletes and spectators, with a capacity of some 2,000 viewers.

Taranto New Swimming Stadium will be Apulia first swimming facility meeting all the requirements of Olympic standards, and – as such – and it will be the driving force for the urban regeneration of the area where it will be located. It has been designed based on state-of-the-art parameters of for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, and it will host activities and events for swimming and water polo, at both national and international level. The stadium will be equipped with an outdoor pool (50 x 21 m.) with a 1,000-seat grandstand, plus an indoor pool (35 x 25 m.) with a mobile pontoon and a 1,000-seat grandstand. If needed, the seating capacity for the outdoor pool will be further increased by installing a temporary 2,000-seat grandstand.

The new multi-discipline sports centre will be used for youth activities and promotional events‭, ‬as well as for professional competitions and other sports events at national level‭, ‬including martial arts‭. ‬This venue will have a 1,300-viewer capacity‭; ‬a multifunctional use of the building will be made possible on a daily basis by means of telescopic grandstands‭, ‬as three separate areas for training will be concurrently available‭. ‬This venue will be a sustainable building with eco-friendly materials and energy-saving technological systems‭.‬

Lecce-based Sports Hall is a multifunctional venue, mainly used for volleyball and basketball. It also features facilities for other
sports and events. The games area has a dimension of 46 x 27 x 15 m, and it has a capacity of 1,500 viewers.

Ettore Giardiniero Stadium also goes under the name of Via del Mare Stadium, that is the stadium on the road to the sea, a clear
reference to its location. It is one of the biggest football venues in Italy, with its 33,500-seat capacity. It was inaugurated in 1966 and underwent major renovation works in 1985, including the addition of the upper ring.

The project for this sports hall meets all the needs and the requirements from the Municipal Administration, as it lays the plan for the creation of a new multifunctional structure where sporting events will be hosted, as well as meetings, shows, concerts, regional and interregional fairs or exhibitions. The New Arena is intended to host mainly offi cial basketball competitions, at national and international level; it shall be approved based on the Gold standard of the Italian Federation of Basketball classifi cation, that is it shall be a sports facility suitable for hosting competitions for both men’s teams and women’s teams. The venue will have a capacity of max 7,000 viewers for sports events.

Located in the Salinella district, this school facility has traditionally been one of the most important venues at both city and province level, for sports at large and athletics in particular. It currently offers a 400m six-lane athletics track; it will be renovated, so as to become an eight-lane track, with new services for the athletes.  Its stationary grandstands can currently sit up to 740 viewers; temporary grandstands will be installed for an increased capacity of 3,000 seats for international events.

It is a multifunctional venue, mainly used for volleyball, basketball and gymnastics. It has a 26 x 49 x 9 m. dimension, and a capacity of 1,245 viewers.

Iacovone Stadium is the city football field and was previously named Salinella Football Field after the area where this venue is located.  This facility is equipped with one natural grass field (named “Iacovone B”), next to the grandstand, reserved to first team training and to Taranto Club junior team matches. While it currently has a capacity of 26,890 viewers spread on two rings, a planned major renovation will shrink the number to 18,000.

Valle d’Itria is a valley in the central area of Apulia region, stretching from Bari Metropolitan area to Brindisi and Taranto provinces. The Murgia dei Trulli area is an important destination for international tourism, owing to the beauty of its nature, its landscapes, and its architecture. It has cycling trails ranging from 100 to 300 km, with various degrees of diffi culty and steepness. Temporary grandstands with a 500-seat capacity will be installed, if needed.

While primarily designed for basketball and volleyball‭, ‬this multi-purpose venue is also suitable for hosting other disciplines‭ ‬and events‭. ‬The area dedicated to sports has a 40‭ ‬x 25‭ ‬x 9‭ ‬m‭. ‬dimension‭; ‬the capacity is of 300‭ ‬spectators‭.‬

Once developed, this venue will meet the need of hosting sports event at regional, national and international level, fully complying to the World Archery regulations and to the technical standards currently enforced in Italy. It will be an economic driving force, as well as a core location for all activities and events related to archery, a sport recording an ever-growing trend countrywide. The venue will have both an indoor and an outdoor competition area.

The municipal shooting site in Torricella will consist of four Olympic pit fields‭, ‬two skeet fields‭, ‬two hunting route fields and one Double Trap field‭. ‬Its stationary grandstand will have a capacity of 200‭ ‬viewers and‭, ‬if needed‭, ‬it will be extended to 1‭,‬000‭ ‬viewers by means of extra temporary grandstands‭.‬

This multi-purpose facility hosts the internal competitions of the local sports clubs‭. ‬It has a dimension of 44‭ ‬x 23‭ ‬x 12.50‭ ‬m‭.‬
